What makes Parasight System unique?

Parasight enables the practitioner the ability to deliver point of care service to the expediency of reliable, sensitive results within minutes.  A fully automated push-button system, with uncomplicated sample preparation, increases operational efficiency within the laboratory.  Clinical results are accompanied by digital imagery which is shareable with the client and Health record software.

How does Parasight system identify parasitic infection in Animals?

Through enhanced AI technology, Fluorescence staining, learned algorithms, and patented sample preparation, Parasight system is able to identify with higher efficiency, accuracy, specificity, repeatability, sensitivity. Due to the analyzed sample size (5-6ml) the system can identify more parasites that may be missed or miscalculated by other methodologies.

Which/how many parasite eggs does Parasight System for Pasture animals identify?

For horses, Parasight identifies and counts strongyle and ascarid eggs using fluorescence imaging technology and an automated software algorithm. The Parasight System provides instant results with an image of the eggs and a count of strongyle and ascarid ova in eggs per gram “EPG). For cattle, goats and sheep, Parasight detects round worms:  Trichostrongylus, Haemonchus, Ostertagia, Oesophagostomum, ChabertiaCooperia and Nematodirus.  The test provides a total combined round worm count for all such genera except Nematodirus, which is reported as a separate count. Future versions of the system will include the ability to detect and count other parasitic helminth ova, including, Strongyloides and Trichuris. The easy-to-use Parasight App provides a simple user interface for emailing results.  The Parasight System is the only validated fecal egg count system in the industry.

Are there published studies and peer-reviewed articles on Parasight System? Is Parasight validated?

Yes.  Parasight system is independently validated.  We have numerous publications in this regard, including peer-reviewed papers in Veterinary Parasitology and the International Journal of Veterinary Parasitology.  All are available for review on this site.  We also have additional validation papers either submitted to peer review or in preparation.

Can I setup a demo of Parasight?

We try to provide all the information to help you in your purchase decision both online and through video chat. Most clients choose to order online and setup the system themselves in less than 20 minutes using our “how-to” videos.  However, we understand that sometimes you just need to see it in person.  We will certainly try to accommodate demo requests, but please understand that that we are a small team and cannot always visit your practice in-person.

Will Parasight System be at any upcoming tradeshows?

Yes.  We actively participate in trade events for AAEP, NEAEP, FVMA, AAEVT, KVMA, Mid-America and more.

Where are results sent?

Results are sent to the Parasight Portal, our secure cloud-based database and also to certain PMS systems.  We currently have integrations available for HVMS and Labdaq.  Clinics using those PMS systems can run a fecal with Parasight System and seamlessly update patient records with test results and record charges for billing.  We are currently working on integrating other PMS systems.

Can I send results to myself and my client?

It is up to you.  You have the option to email results directly to your client along with your treatment recommendations, or you may prefer to review them in-house before communicating with your client.

What is the shelf life of reagents?

Regent liquids include a wash, stain and bleach.  The shelf life is 12 months.  In low volume clinics, however, we do recommend that a portion of the reagents be refrigerated to ensure that a stable environment is maintained in order to maximize shelf-life.

How does Parasight System compare to McMaster or other microscope-based technologies?

Parasight System is a filtration method which has been optimized for both accuracy and precision.  Its accuracy was caIibrated to produce, on average, the same egg counts as the McMaster test described in the parasitology guidelines issued by the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP).  As a result, veterinarians can continue using the same familiar metrics (such as treatment thresholds) for their parasite control programs.  Since the McMaster test is notoriously imprecise, calibration was achieved by running hundreds of tests on dozens of samples in order to average out these errors.  Since this process involved counting multiple samples multiple times using both Parasight System and McMaster, it also allowed us to statistically evaluate the relative precision of both tests.

In summary, our testing and validation of Parasight System have shown that even the least-trained analyst is now capable of producing equine fecal egg counts that surpass the results obtained from the McMaster test detailed in the AAEP guidelines when performed by even experienced parasitologists.

Why are there 2 units?  Which one is best for my practice?

Parasight for Pasture is validated and focused exclusively on large animals, (horse, cattle, sheep, goats) & chickens.  The needs of pasture Practitioners differ due to the necessity of often being totally mobile. This system can operate barn side, in the field, or within any traveling vehicle. Result correspondences with clients via email can easily be obtained through a mobile hot spot.

Parasight System Animal Diagnostics was developed for mixed practices, predominantly with-in clinic appointments. Due to the capabilities to diagnosis parasitic infection in multiple species, and advanced imagery required for additional add on tests, the necessity for uninterrupted internet is essential.

Is Parasight System patented?

Yes, it is. Our patent information can be found here:  https://www.parasightsystem.com/patent/

Is Parasight System portable?

The Parasight System for Pasture (PSP) is designed for in-clinic use; however, it can be transported and set up at a show event or in a barn setting.  Access to electricity and water (bottled or tap), as well as, and WiFi if you intend to email results, is suggested.

Parasight Animals Diagnostic System (all-in-one or PADS) is designed for in-clinic use due to the highly magnified images that are rendered. Internet connection or Wi-Fi is necessary.

Can I purchase the unit or are they leased?

Yes, the units can be purchased and include a 1-year limited warranty. Additional software updates are not included unless that to fix an error.

We recommend to our clients to instead of the closed end purchase to enter into a renewable annual service contract.  The provides Full Warranty (unless damage caused by the user) automatic software updates, Customer and Tech Support, Replacement of parts or unit if not operational at proper standards and reliable results.
